Short Message to Trad PR: You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat
Inspired by Rowan’s presentation to the good PR folk of the automotive industry earlier this week, I thought I’d embark on a spot of constructive Pecha Kucha PR Baiting myself.
Actually, I don’t mean to disparage PR… PR is an essential part of the communications and marketing mix. I just want to expand on an important point made by Rowan.
It’s this:
If your goal is to influence people through the media then you’re going to need a bigger boat.
You need to be active where they’re most active – in their Social spaces – as well as in traditional media.
(In fact, the media also needs to borrow this boat itself because the point of this little slide show is that their share of attention is fading fast.)
Here’s the PPT. It’s less than 20 slides and contains artwork of the highest calibre. Please give it your time, and let me know what you think…

Social Media Consulting vs Viral Advertising: Can All ‘Creatives’ Please Go Back to the 80s
Social Media consulting is not an opportunity to go wild with creative-led, viral-inspired, 60-second advertising. A virus is an illness – much like a Social Media plan without a stack of analytics to back it up and a deep understanding of how Social tools actually work and why people use them.
