No Cures for Daily Mail Social Media Cancer Fail!?
OK, so I had a meeting get cancelled on me today. Rather than tool around and annoy people, I decided to do some research into why The Daily Mail is on such a Social Media FAIL streak at the moment.
Prompted by an excellent post by Murray at NixonMcInnes, my OUTRAGE grew RELENTLESS as I trawled through the pap the paper has published on the ills of Facebook, Twitter and the like in the past five days.
Pap? Yes. Britain is Broken. Facebook Gives You Cancer. Single Mothers Molest Property Prices. Twitter Makes Your Brain Sick. The ECB is Run by Devil Worshippers. (See Chris Applegate for more Daily Mail-o-matic inspiration).
There was only one thing to do. OUTRAGED OF EAST SUSSEX WRITES TO DAILY MAIL EDITOR PAUL DACRE IN A PLEA FOR COMMON SENSE.
That’s people like…

…and us, C&M
We think that…
- The Government is not a ‘Bunch of Twitterers’ for hiring a new ‘Digital Supremo’. It’s a smart move to stay in touch with an increasingly online electorate.
- Facebook isn’t really a credible cause of cancer, or a factor of social disintegration. It’s a great tool for bringing people together, sharing ideas and communicating.
- Twitter won’t really ‘harm children’s brains’ or render them speechless will it? It’s a great way of staying in touch with people and accessing information we may otherwise miss.
If you feel the same, then please join the discussion. Post us a comment or write to me and I’ll put your name on the ‘supporters list‘.
Enough Daily Mail Social Media Fail. We really ought to be doing something more worthwhile with Social Media and all the opportunity it brings.
