We’re having a busy summer here at C&M working with some fantastic clients, relaxing in the garden on our giant beanbags…

…and to top it off we’ll be driving an old banger across Europe in late September!

Yes, team C&M will be competing in Scally Rally 2010 with our good friends (and clients) email marketing software providers Pure360. Our very own Roger Warner, Michael Wilkins and Ben Martin will be driving (probably quite fast) from Calais (France) to Rimini (Italy) in a yet-to-be-purchased car costing less than £100 (cue hilarious tweets about breakdowns, flat tyres and terrifying near-misses).

Putting the inevitable chaos aside for a moment though, the aim of the event is to raise funds for a whole bunch of great charities and we’d really appreciate all the support we can get, preferably in the form of cold hard cash! Please go to Pure360’s Scally Rally Fundraising Page to help us meet our fundraising target and you can also keep updated on our progress via Twitter.

Wish us luck!

The UK’s hottest Online PR agency, Content & Motion, welcomes Rowan Stanfield to the team this week.

London, January 9th 2008

Uber-hot UK Online PR agency today unveiled its latest hot new signing, Rowan Stanfield. As the latest, all-shiny, all-Online addition to the C&M team, Rowan has spent the last eight years building extensive PR skills as a publicist in the books industry, during which time she worked for several different publishing houses.

Within months of landing her first publishing job at Frances Lincoln back in 2000, a cocky young Rowan initiated and project-managed the creation of a previously non-existent company website, dragging the old-fashioned firm kicking and screaming into the digital age.

Since then Rowan has been shaking things up in a similarly forward-thinking fashion in her various PR and Marketing roles at Orion, John Wiley and most recently, GMC.

As C&M’s lead Online PR Consultant, with responsibility for planning, executing and managing C&M’s core Online PR campaigns, Rowan will work directly alongside C&M founder Roger Warner across all of C&M’s Online PR client accounts.

A self-confessed ‘Girl Geek’, Rowan has been dabbling in Social Media since before most of her friends had even heard of MySpace or Facebook, and is delighted to be leaping into the world of Online PR.

“I spend so much of my spare time messing around online anyway, that it seemed like the natural next step career-wise” said Rowan, “It’s been a personal mission of mine to advocate the benefits of of web-based marketing and PR to my invariably sceptical publishing peers, so it’s genuinely exciting to be joining a cutting-edge agency in which anything is possible!”

Said C&M founder, Roger Warner: “Rowan brings a brilliant mix of PR savvy, Pulitzer Prize-worthy copywriting skills and five star Social Media girl-geek abilities to the C&M mix. Frankly, she’s a better signing for us than Ronaldhino. She’ll contribute fully to our good-not-evil plan for world Online PR domination, and will be working across all of our key accounts. I’m really excited to have her on board and I know that every one of our clients will feel the same way very, very soon.“

A First Class graduate in Education Studies with Drama and Theatre Studies, Rowan is also a keen photographer, blogger and live music enthusiast.

You need only type “Rowan Stanfield” into Google to see how often she pops up all over the Web. Just don’t ask her to build you a swimming pool.

Wow! They’ve Darn Well Done it Again! New Paper Even Has Semi-Academic Title in a Concerted Effort to Sound Like Malcolm Gladwell

Uber-hot UK-based online PR agency Content & Motion today announced that its all-new, all-star Online PR ‘playbook’ is now freely available to download, read and get excited about.

Entitled ‘Party Hard – the New Social Theory of Online PR,’ the article helps modern marketing people, CEO’s and geeks to think through what it takes to generate buzz, awareness and new traffic through smart Online PR tactics.

It provides five tried and tested ‘theories’ to help make Online PR campaigns fly.

They are:

Listen up! Don’t attach names or labels without taking counsel

Be interesting: create noteworthy content (make people laugh, mad and/or excited)

Party harder: seek and you shall find. (Don’t expect folks to come to you!)

Be a good social citizen: give your content away freely and generously

Be socially useful: don’t build unnecessary content services

The paper discusses each of these theories in turn and provides a wealth of balanced examples and insights on how to use them to improve your Online PR work.

Says C&M founder Roger Warner, “We put this paper together to help companies figure out how to change their Online PR and content marketing practices for the better. We’re asked on a daily basis to help people generate more buzz and traffic – and nine times out of ten the solutions we come up with are similar. So rather than sit on them we thought we’d do the decent thing and share them around.”

The paper is available, FREE, today via: http://www.contentandmotion.com/resources/party-hard-five-basic-social-theories-of-online-pr/

Go get it!

Online PR Agency Content and Motion got all hot under the collar today with a new 'Think Piece' that suggests that 'Old School PR' is a waste of money for companies of a certain shape and size - those in the 'small to medium' bracket.

London, 20th November 2008

Online PR Agency Content & Motion got all hot under the collar today with a new ‘Think Piece’ that suggests that ‘Old School PR’ is a waste of money for companies of a certain shape and size – those in the ‘small to medium’ bracket.

The piece looks at the basic social economics of the Old PR business model, and states that “Traditional PR no longer works as a revenue and brand building exercise for small to mid-sized companies with a limited profile and budget…. even if they have great ideas, products and services. The reason for this because the traditional PR game doesn’t scale very well.”

The full piece can be read at: http://www.contentandmotion.com/blog/why-the-old-pr-game-is-broken-spend-wisely-online-pr-rules/

It’s controversial stuff – and a recommended read for anyone in the PR business or those companies who are evaluating their PR spend. The basic premise is that if a traditional PR agency has “X number of clients (and more, if it’s a good agency), then every day it will make decisions that enhance its core assets (its media relationships) at the expense of some of its clients interests.” …and goes on to reason that Online PR delivers far more value and less risk when it comes to generating brand awareness and quality web site traffic.

Says author of the piece and C&M founder, Roger Warner: “our intention isn’t to rubbish ‘old PR.‘ But in many cases ‘old PR’ simply won’t work for small to mid-sized companies because the cards are stacked against them. We’re biased of course, but, nine times out of ten, if you’re looking to drive awareness, sales, signups and general web site traffic, then our advice is to check out Online PR first.”

Declares – Good Things Come to Those Who Can Create Great Content and Write Page Titles in 70 Characters or Less

Content & Motion (C&M) formally opened its doors for business today after the successful beta launch of its new web site. The company, which describes itself as a Content Creation, Content Optimisation, SEO and Online PR agency all rolled into one, is led by ex-IBM head of media relations Roger Warner, and is already beginning to cause a stir with its range of content-centric web marketing offerings.

C&M’s goal is to help its clients address their most pressing web marketing challenges through the delivery of content-based solutions. In practice this means identifying a clear set of objectives and corresponding audiences or targets; creating the right content offers to turn them on; using a bit of social media, SEO and online PR pixie-dust to seed it with them and have them beat a path to the right doors; and optimising the target web sites to convert them to a cause.

This process is formed on the basic understanding that good web marketing, good SEO, and good online PR must now be based on great content that satisfies two essential audiences in equal measure – search engine spiders (so that a a web page can be crawled, indexed and ‘understood’ in the right fashion) AND human beings (so a page is compelling enough to be read, understood, rated and linked to).

Says founder Roger Warner: “We’re kind of like an uber-new PR firm for the interweb era. Our goal is basically to help the world take a more profitable, cost-effective and content-first approach to its web marketing challenges.”

“You simply can’t game Google with meta tags and invisible technical wizardry any more,” continued Warner. “Web marketing is less technocratic than it used to be, and relies more on the creative processes involved in hatching a good plan, producing great content and seeding it amongst the interweb. Technical know-how is necessary (and we have it in spades here at C&M), but the real job is in producing killer content that makes heads turn – of both search spiders and human beings.

“This is great news for companies of all sizes and their customers, because producing great content isn’t hard – we all have great ideas and opinions to supplement our products and services. And if good web marketing means placing more of this stuff in the public domain, then the customer experience can only get better and better.”

As part of its mission, the company is also committed to producing a variety of best practice ‘How To’ guides that demystify the processes of SEO, content optimisation, search engine marketing and online PR, which are all published free of charge via its new website.

In addition, the company is producing an ‘industry insight’ blog which will produce a weekly stream of helpful web marketing advice to marketers in every walk of life. The common goal is to make web marketing accessible and do-able for a non-technical marketing audience, and to take the ‘rocket science’ out of SEO and content optimisation.

Check out C&M’s web site for further information about the company’s new Online PR and Content Optimisation Services.

About Content & Motion

C&M is a Content Creation, Content Optimisation, SEO and Online PR agency. We use a variety of groovy web marketing techniques to help you win new friends and influence people. The company was founded in mid-2008 by Roger Warner – web marketing junkie, ex-director of PR at IBM Europe, and personality type D.

The company works on the partnership model of all great consultancies, meaning that ownership is shared, staff are obsessive, brains and egos are large, and attention spans are notoriously focused. Fortunately this is good news for our clients, who tend to benefit from consolidated bouts of outrageously good service and smart thinking and execution.
